The
final sound mix for the film was digitally
re-mastered at Skywalker Sound, a division of
Lucas Digital, Ltd. in Marin County, California.
Screenwriter Broderick Miller of Los
Angeles also wrote the script for HBO's
highest-rated original movie, DEADLOCK.
GRANDFATHER'S BIRTHDAY marks the first
time that the father-son duo of Robert and John
Prosky acted together in the same scene in a
motion picture.
The original score for the film was
created by Paul Hartwig, once a member of the
Minnesota-based rock band "Limited
Warranty."
The original story, "It Was
Grandfather's Birthday," first appeared in
Ann Landers syndicated newspaper column in 1985.
Since then, it has become one of Ms. Landers'
most requested reruns.
GRANDFATHER'S BIRTHDAY is the first film
directed by Gayle Knutson, a Minnesota native.
The entire film was shot on location in
Marine on St. Croix and Stillwater, Minnesota in
June, 1999.
