Local Poets' Night
was held in
Marine Downtown on December 14th, 2007
| Join in the fun when the first-ever Local Poets' Night takes place in Marine
on Friday evening, December 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. This showcase of local poets and poetry will feature readings by Juli Hagstrom, Laurel Anderson, Mary Fernstrum, Laurie Allmann, Don Mitchell, and many more. Join us for a veritable panoply of fine verse at venues along Judd Street in Marine. We'll begin in the General Store with readings of favorite food poems (a rich genre), followed by an hour of readings at the Marine Branch Library, and finally, a gathering at Roberta's Coffee Shop to top off the night with a closing round of poems and cups of coffee-scented cocoa and cider. These are not large spaces, so you'll get to know your neighbors exceedingly well! All events are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Local Poets' Night is produced by Arcola Mills in partnership with the Marine Branch Library, the Marine General Store and Roberta's Coffee Shop, with funding support from the Mardag Foundation.
