What this site is
MarineOnStCroix.com is a free, independent guide to Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, for visitors planning a trip and for neighbors who want useful local information in one place. It is not affiliated with the City of Marine on St. Croix, the Minnesota DNR, the National Park Service or any business. We don’t sell listings, and no business pays to appear here.
The address has been online since 1999, when it began as a hometown website. You can read that story here.
How the data works
Most pages combine two kinds of content:
- Data that updates automatically. A set of open-source scripts collects public data — river gauges, weather and climate, wildlife observations, census tables, maps and the city’s event calendar — and recalculates everything each time the site is rebuilt. River and weather numbers also refresh live in your browser.
- Writing that is our own. History, guides and seasonal notes are written for this site and checked against primary sources: the Minnesota Historical Society, the National Register of Historic Places, the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Weather Service and city records.
We never copy articles from other websites. Where we rely on a fact from another source we link to it, and every photo is credited to its photographer under its license. The full list is on the sources page.
Accuracy and corrections
Local details change — hours, event dates, park closures. We try to say when something should be confirmed and to link to the official source. If you spot an error or have something to add, please write to [email protected]. We read every message.
