Firemen's Street Dance

Live music on Judd Street on a long June evening — and the best way to support Marine's volunteer firefighters.

The street dance is one of the fire and safety department’s main fundraisers, and it helps offset the department’s costs in the city budget. It is typically held on the third Saturday in June starting at 6 p.m., with live music, food, beer and soft drinks downtown. Check the city calendar to confirm the date each year.

Fire protection has been a community effort in Marine since the 1880s, when a run of costly fires pushed the village to buy a hand-pumped fire engine and build a fire hall with a tower in 1888. Coming out to dance is a small way to keep that tradition going.

Mid-June is close to the longest days of the year — sunset in Marine comes after 9 p.m. — and June is also the wettest month, so bring a rain jacket just in case.
