Nature
55 fish species have been photographed near Marine, from bluegill to lake sturgeon.
The St. Croix has one of the richest fish communities in the region. Anglers photograph smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike and bluegill, while snorkelers find colorful darters, shiners and redhorses on the gravel bars. The river also holds lake sturgeon and mooneye, both indicators of a healthy big river.
Naturalists have logged 55 species of fish within 10 km of the village. The most species are recorded in June. Below are the 35 species with at least two research-grade records, most-recorded first.
